Mr. Joe Hart, Jr. has been associated with land surveying most of his life. He began surveying with his dad, Joe Hart, Sr., when he was six years old and officially began working in surveying as a rodman in high school. Mr. Hart served in the Air Force for four years upon graduation from high school. In 1965, he earned an associate’s degree in Engineering and Sciences from Kilgore College. Thereafter, he moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas in Austin and took several surveying-related courses there. While in Austin, he worked at Bryant-Curington Engineers gaining experience in boundary and subdivision surveying calculations, analyzation of deeds, and preparing legal descriptions. Mr. Hart also learned about researching deeds and occasionally filled in as a party chief. In 1974, he was licensed as a Registered Public Surveyor in the state of Texas.
Mr. Hart was elected Harrison County Surveyor, and held that office from 1976 to 1991 while operating Joe Hart Surveying Co. He provided topographic surveys, mortgage loan surveys, pipeline surveys, surveys for oil and gas locations for various companies including Texaco, Amoco and Chevron, and served as an expert witness in litigation in courts of law. He worked for Hart Engineering from 1991 to 1999, and for Collins Surveying and Mapping, Inc., as in-house surveyor in the Atlanta, Texas office from 1999 to 2005.
While at Collins Surveying, he was responsible for many contract surveying services for TxDOT, including surveys for right of way acquisitions, reconstruction of existing right of way alignments associated with I-30 (6 miles), U.S. 82, U.S. 59 and several F.M. Roads. Mr. Hart also supervised topographic surveys associated with highway design for several engineering firms under contract with TxDOT. Mr. Hart also worked for several environmental companies, surveying monitor well locations at various sites in East Texas, including Lone Star Steel, Longhorn Army Ammunition Plant, Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant, and Witco Chemical Co.
Mr. Hart is the Surveyor of record for all of Johnson & Pace’s oil and gas surveys, as well as some boundary and topographic surveys. |
